Hey friends

I have been so busy the last few weeks and I had zero battery life to write the newsletter. This week is still pretty insane so instead of cultivating some kid of cohesive message or story, I thought I’d share 5 random things happening in my world.

Hope y’all are living well, lets get into it!

001. Got a New Laptop

So i have been working 95% of the time on a custom built PC that I first made sometime during 2020.

It has been my all around beast of a machine that keeps up with all my design work, video editing and the late night gaming seshes.

However back in college i almost exclusively used a macbook and I loved the apple interface, the way it interacted with my iPhone and of course being able to take my work on the go.

That was the major selling point for me getting a new laptop. I hated when I traveled or went anywhere outside of my home office not having a machine powerful enough to keep up.

So i bit the bullet and bought a M3 Macbook pro 16 inch

and so far….

It has been ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

This fucking thing doesn’t just keep up with my Windows desktop but It lowkey might even be more powerful.

Something about Mac and adobe just work so well together too.

I want to keep using it for a few more months before I come to any full conclusion but at that point I might even make a full video review from a graphic designer/content creators perspective over on YouTube

002. Threads app bonus??

So outside of YouTube Adsense (and even that is meh) the rewards programs on these social media apps have been pretty disappointing.

Even when you get hundreds of thousands or millions of views on an IG reel or TikTok the pay is dogshit.

The other day though i got invited to this “bonus program” for the Threads app and its actually paying pretty decent.

Which obviously means that no one is using that app and they need new users lol

It has worked though I have been posting more on there the last 3-5 days than I did the whole month before.

I pretty much just clone whatever I’m doing over on Twitter and sent it there now too.

So if you wanna connect with your boy over on Threads, run it up!

003. Busy with client work

This is my first time in a while where I am working on 3 bigger client projects simutatnsely.

I am so grateful to be getting the work but at the same time it feels like it’s feast or famine in the freelance world.

I try not to turn projects down even if I’m a bit too busy because this overwhelemd feeling will quickly be replaced with the wonder of when my next client will come along.

Luckily I am almsot done with most of these and as long as we dont have any crazy revisions, everything should be wrapped up by August!

For my fellow freelance designers out there, how has work been treating you in 2024?

004. Almost to 100k on YouTube

4 years ago, the day I recorded my first YouTube video - July 26th 2020

I almost cant believe we are this close to 100,000 subs over on the YouTube channel.

I still remember it like it was yesterday, starting the channel it my 100+ degree apartment in West Hollywood while the world was on lockdown.

Having my roommate Vince edit my videos and start to teach me premiere pro.

Sweating over all the little details on each video edit and literally sweating as well cuz we had no AC in that apartment lol.

Since then we have came a long way and I am so proud of the community that has been built, the improvements I have continued to make on my content, and just the overall rewarding life content has allowed me to make for myself in tandem with my graphic design practice.

I know i want to make a big Q&A style video to celebrate this feat so if ya have any question about absolutely anything for me drop em below.

005. Shows and New music y’all should checkout

HAVE HEART - Sound & Fury Day 2 Headliner

I have been going to more shows the past few years than I think i have my entire life before that.

Outside of rock climbing, video making and design I don’t have a ton of interests that I get super passionate about but lucky for me Hardcore music has remained a consistent one.

I love the hardcore scene so much because the people in it are so dope, the music is fire and the live show experience is unlike any other genre out there.

I’m stoked to have amazing people to enjoy these events with too

shoutout my partner Erika and the homies Jon & Kev.

so yea anyway, I recently went to a record release show for this amzing band SPEED. check the album out below, they are a fire high energy HxC band from Australia.

That show was followed the next 2 days with the sound and fury Festival.

It’s put on by Braindead (which is also one of my fav brands) and the fest is just a dope celebration of good music, food and people.

I bought so much merch and sometimes i feel bad about spending money on “stuff” but it’s easy to justify when you realize its supporting bands you actually fuck with not mass produced bull shit graphic tees.

I also got to see Have Heart who rarely play shows these days, it was an absolute treat.

What was crazy too is I had like 4-5 people come up to me at the festival saying they love my work or videos so that was a cool experience, especially being in that setting.

You forget sometimes being online too much that all those followers are real life cool people haha.
