Twitter Blue & What's New
Hey Friends
In the office writing this newsletter and looking outmy window at such a beautiful day. The weather in LA has been just the right amount of cold and crispness to bring me that cozy feeling. Will make the time to go for a little walk later.
Twitter Blue...?
Twitter blue... What a stupid idea. Are we really all that vain that we would pay a billionaire $8 a month to kinda prove that we are special? The funny thing is clicking on the checkmark still shows if it's a legit verification or not.
The world has become more and more pay-to-win and capitalistic. This twitter blue thing reminds me of the current state of video games where everything is battlepassified or lootboxed and micro transactioned up the ying yang. Gone are the days of earning something cool through the love of the game or the grind.
Not sure where else I am going with that I just think it's funny. I am still going to be on Twitter though because overall as a platform it still feels cool to me (or cool as it can be I guess).
I like posting my work on Twitter because the engagement over there seems genuine and people are actually enthusiastic about the creators and little communities they follow. Whereas other sites like Instagram have become just a grab for the trendiest reel or "recommended" content they think you wanna see. (I have seen enough cooking videos for a lifetime, when did they all take over that super quick choppy editing style lol)
What's New
I don't have many updates on the client work side of things but have been cooking on youtube. Love to see the momentum I have been getting and truly appreciate any of you who show me love.
I have a video coming out soon that is more VLOGesque and IRL based stuff. It's been a while since I went and shot outside and this one was fun to make. It's kinda like a day in a life type beat but I'm, also working on a fun little project and whatnot.
Personal work has still been a little strange for me. I just worked on a fun mixed media collage type thing today but other than that it's pretty much been all blues legends. I think the creative block I am having is equally matched with inspiration for the blues legends series.
I have made about 13 or 14 of those I think now and not sure how long I wanna take it but a longer form project like this that you can still piece out and share has been very rewarding. In the past, I did the black note and Skatin not Stirred series but this one has been feeling even more creatively fulfilling.
I also have some client work I finished in the chamber that I wanna share with y'all but ya know NDAs and waiting for releases and what not.
Enough about me though what are y'all doing? I wanna hear what's going on in the lives of all my newsletter readers. Never hesitate to email me back with something cool you're working on, something exciting in your life, or whatever. You can also hop in my discord and connect with some other designers (and me too).
KOKO
Here is one of the recent blues legends posters I finished up, had to drop one of the queens Koko Taylor. Been experimenting more with negative space and trying to get comfortable with riskier or more incomplete compositions (well maybe not incomplete but less filled up in my usual sense).
Stuff I currently like and stuff I'm looking forward to!

Closing Thoughts
Get up and try every day, even if the desired outcome isn't met, at least you made progress toward the next try.
Much Love, Glue.
