Hey Friends
I have been pretty busy lately but mostly with non “design” stuff which is a nice little change of pace.
Trip to Belkin
I recently got invited to go check out the Belkin HQ which was pretty cool.
It’s somewhere over on the west side of LA and they were nice enough to show me some new tech, advancements in sustainability, and just a fun little tour.
Honestly, I didn’t know much about Belkin (other than that they made chargers) but they got a pretty cool setup over there and seem to be actually about it when it comes to sustainability and helping the environment.
Def love to see less Greenwashing from big corporations.
It was cool seeing the evolution of all their products as well as some 3D-printed stuff. This is in no way sponsored or anything just giving y’all a little life update.
The engineering team even showed us this device they use to test dropping stuff. A charger, phone screen, etc I guess has to land 10 of these drops without breaking (something like that, don’t quote me)
The content side of my business is such a weird thing, I love being a graphic designer but am still a little insecure when I get invited to events as a “content creator” or “influencer”
Those 2 titles are what really spiked that imposter syndrome feeling in my brain.
Other than that though, it is pretty cool what opportunities I have gotten just from doing stuff on the internet.
If I was solely a freelance graphic designer who did not make youtube videos I doubt I would ever get invited to cool headquarters like Adobe and Belkin or even get sent random tech and “swag” to my house lol.
(I hate when corporations call it Swag)
Overall I’m super grateful for what creating content on the internet has helped me achieve and recommend it to anyone who has even a little bit of interest.
It’s definitely worth a try.
Other Small Updates
Other than that I have just been working behind the scenes on some new youtube videos and stuff for you all.
Client work has been a bit dry in the month of July so it has allowed me to get a lot more busy with other random stuff.
Freelance really is about the ebb and flow
sometimes I have so much work that it is overwhelming and other times I am stressed about my next job.
On the bright side though, I finally fixed my car that was having some troubles.
and have been doing more physical activities like climbing and some kettlebell workouts.
I am trying really hard to stay consistent with some kind of routine that keeps me active since otherwise, I sit at my desk most of the day lol.
I have also been playing this game Paladins way too much on my PC though too, if you’re an Overwatch fan I suggest checking it out!
It’s nice to be busy with things other than work every once and a while. It also goes with my last video and is helping me not get all my validation from my career.
check it out Here if ya haven’t watched it yet!
That’s all I have for now though, what have you all been up to this summer?
Much love and see y’all next week!

Random Opportunities
Good to see you embracing the ebb and flows of your freelance work and making the most of your free time. Also seeing you climb is so dope! I wish I had a climbing gym near me. Cheers Jesse <3
