Hey Friends
Sorry I’ve been MIA for a couple of weeks, I was on a trip in Europe and was trying my best to fully immerse myself and be in the moment.
I think I was able to achieve that:)
Going Out and Living
I’ve spoken before about the importance of going out and living your life as a designer.
We cannot come up with new ideas and get inspired if we are always in the lab cooking up 24/7
We need to be exposed to new ideas, perspectives and experiences.
I am so grateful that I am in a position these days to be able to travel to Europe.
When I was growing up I never would have thought I’d be traveling like this in my mid-20s, but it’s pretty dope!
On this trip I flew to London and visited for a few days, then took a train to Amsterdam for a few days and spent the bulk of my trip in Berlin.
It’s so different in these countries than living in California but I loved getting exposed to a different culture and way of living.
I especially loved Berlin
The people there are so cool, the parks are nice, the food is amazing and the nightlife is one of a kind.
The only downside is water is like liquid gold in Germany lol.
I’m pretty sure I drank more beer than water this trip.
I am working on a video that will drop soon about the importance of rest and going out to live your life outside of art and design.
So stay tuned.
But for now, I’ll say this.
Being a graphic designer is important to me but it will never be more important than being more human.
And conveniently enough
Being a more fulfilled, lively, and considerate human, makes me a better designer in the process.
Live your life however you see fit my friends, be a sponge, and bring all that beautiful energy back into the studio.
So quite honestly my secret to becoming a better graphic designer has nothing to do with design and all to do with being human.
Much love and talk soon.
Cool stuff to check out
