Indie Movie Poster Design

As you may have heard from some of my older content, I have been working on movie posters and poster designs in general for the past 5 years or so.

I worked on major key art at an agency in Hollywood for HBO, Paramount, Netflix, etc. (this was always with a big team though and I was just a Junior Designer)

Now I work on tons of poster designs for clients and in my own personal practice and exploration.

However

I have never gotten the opportunity to design a movie poster from start to finish all my by my lonely….until now.

Recently a director hit me up to design a movie poster for his upcoming indie film and it was such a rewarding and fun process.

I documented almost the entire process so I’m going to be releasing a YouTube video on it tomorrow, stay tuned!

I don’t wanna spill the beans too much, but not only was the final design really cool the director throughout the entire process was great to work with and had amazing views on the design aesthetic.

I’m not sure where the movie is headed since it’s just a small indie short for now, but nonetheless, it felt good to create a movie poster for a director that I could tell put a lot of love and passion into his movie.

You’ll see more tomorrow if you’re interested but rest assured I did no floating head nonsense haha

Took a Stance on AI

Took a stance on AI

This past week I released my thoughts on AI video to my Second Channel.

I originally had it just on the Patreon but felt like I wanted to have my stance and opinions out there to the public. Not only to let y’all know where I’m at with that stuff but to hold me somewhat accountable.

The AI world is rapidly evolving and who knows what will be going on or how I think about it even at the end of this year. So it was nice to time stamp some thoughts with that mini podcast-type video.

Overall sentiments are 

• Not super optimistic 

• Like it as a TOOL but not the entire creative process from concept to execution

• The AI Music creation is SUPER Wierd

• Don’t like how the image generation models scrape other artists/designers work to inform the prompt outcomes

If you’re thinking “Wait you have a second channel??”

The answer is YES lol

I started a second channel to post more low-lift content in between all the heavier edited stuff I do.

So design process videos, Timelapse, breakdowns, podcasts, etc

So I would love it if you went and subscribed so we can get the new channel to 1000 subscribers!?

Moving More

Lately, I have been doing more physical activities since moving back near my hometown. 

When I was living right in the middle of Hollywood a lot of my friends didn’t do much on the weekdays and only went out on weekend nights.

This made it pretty hard to do exercise on the weekdays since it’s so boring by yourself.

Lately though I have been rock climbing and playing racquetball a few times a week.

I met this super rich homie who has his own racquetball court which is INSANE and I have also been climbing at Hangar 18

Rock Climbing was just the type of exercise I needed, not only does it make me active and feel good but the challenge and strategy to finishing a new climb is so damn rewarding.

For any people who do bouldering that read this right now, I’m doing around V3s and V4s

I knew it was true but damn those scientists who talk about physical activity making your mental health better were NOT WRONG.

I feel healthier, happier, and overall energized to work and play.

So if your like me and sit (sometimes stand) at a desk for 6-10 hours a day then please find some fun physical thing to do.
