Live again??
I recently did a live stream with this company pitch on my own channel.
It was pretty cool designing live and feeling that pressure again to make cool stuff and be engaged verbally in a live setting.
I got that feeling a little bit when I did that behance stream with Adobe recently and made this Knocked Loose poster
But this was a little different since I was building a presentation and it was on my own channel.
I could speak more about my work and the thought process at my own pace, which was nice.
The whole concept of the live stream was proposed to me by this company Pitch. They brought this data to me about how 3/5 designers experience burnout in their careers.
So the idea was to have a productive stream that was like a “design with me” but also incorporated breaks and chatting with the community.
I wanted people to sit along with me and get their own work done but also have time to take breaks and chat, overall I think the concept was a success.
For anyone who tuned in I mad appreciate it, and if you liked that type of livestream format maybe I’ll try it again.
I know I wanna do something celebratory once we hit 100k on the YouTube Channel so maybe a live stream could work for that??
New Formats
The live kind of framed my perspective a bit on how its been nice doing other formats that are out of my comfort zone.
I think as creatives we can sometimes default to what feels familiar or a thing where the workflow is dialed in, but it’s always good to take risks and experiment.
I sometimes feel locked into a few formats like: long form design videos, short-form design process stuff, and overall poster designs on social media.
That is why the album art weekly challenge I have been doing has felt so refreshing and has helped get my creative flow state dialed back in.
I was really happy with how the Backtrack redesign turned out! This has not only sparked my love again for square album art designs but simultaneously reignited my passion for hardcore music.
I actually just went to a ZULU show yesterday at the Glasshouse, shoutout Pomona.
Anyway, I’m also working on a video where I am designing some more album art-based stuff but with a twist
I don’t want to share any final designs yet so they will be a surprise for the video but here is a little sneak peak of one.
Hopefully, the video will be out soon!
