Investing in Designers, Adobe's Wild Antics, and Instagram Bots
Hey Friends
This week has been an eventful one for me. I had 3 potential client meetings, did a podcast, and recorded my entire day this past Tuesday for "A Day in the Life" video I have planned for YouTube. Hope everyone is doing well!

Adobe Up To No Good Again
Above is the reply I sent to an agency that approached me to be a part of the Billie Eilish x Adobe Campaign. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved $1500 bucks right about now but this spec work shit needs to stop. For anyone unfamiliar you can read more about the campaign here. Basically, Adobe and Billie Eilish are running a contest where you submit designs and the winner will be sold as merch. This is a classic predatory practice so many brands have done that results in unpaid artists who enter, underpaid artists who win, and an overall devaluing of the design industry. Be careful out there and use your voice to speak out against bullshit like this in the community. Thank you to the people who showed love and support on my tweet about this issue.
Investing in a Creator
I recently watched this Video by Colin & Samir where they talked about this concept of investing in a creator. They were targeting it more towards YouTubers and musical artists, but it got me thinking. What would a world look like where you could invest in a visual artist or designer. Let's say you are an up-and-coming designer, a person could pledge money to you that gives you funds to create art, content, or whatever you want and in return, they get a small percentage of future revenue you generate. I'm not sure if this would turn out to be a good idea or not but I don't think we are far off from something like this. Think about all the types of things that go down like this with startups, the music industry, and professional athletes. What do you think about this idea??
The Wack Side of Social Media
Above is the message I received before my account got spammed with some bots. So if you have been following me on Instagram for some time you may have noticed my rapid growth these past few months. I generated over 20k organic followers in about 2 months. This growth has made me super proud but also made me realize even with having 38k followers it doesn't mean much. There are def diminishing returns in the world of chasing social media metrics. I am talking about this because recently some random dude sent almost 10k bot accounts to follow my Instagram putting me from 38k to 46k in 10 mins. It is a whole mess and I'm not sure what the ramifications are going to be. My point of all this is don't put too much value in any one social media, my account could very well be taken down, engagement ruined, or who knows what Zuckerberg might do. I am grateful for all of you who follow me/show support but just watch out for people tryna do dirty shit like that online. I want to be more active on Twitter anyway so follow me there:)
