Hey friends
Sorry for being MIA for a couple of weeks, I was taking some time off in France. It was such an inspiring trip and wanted to chat about that a bit with y’all today
a castle for creators
Earlier this year I met some amazing individuals who run a company called Creator Camp
Basically a fun summer camp type thing with some of the coolest people on the internet.
If i’m being totally honest, the first time I was approached for it I thought it was a scam
“too good to be true” as they say
But being my second trip with this company now, I am so grateful that my past self took that risk and said YES
Writing this newsletter is bittersweet. I am so happy to be back in the office and inspired, but last week was so much fun.
We hung out, chilled, explored, and collaborated.
The entire week was a huge reset for me and left me feeling so inspired by all the amazing talented people around me.
I also finally got to visit Paris thanks to my big homie Bart who was kind enough to let us stay at his apartment.
So even before the camp I got to hang with some of my favorite internet homies and amazing creators: Ethan, Baron, Hallie, Paolo, and Bart
So after a week of hanging at cafes and eating snails, we traveled to the countryside to stay at a straight up 19th centuries château (castle basically)
This shit was straight up the fucking X mansion and instead of mutants it was filled with creators whose only power is to make dope shit and be chronically online lol
It’s so nice being around other people who make art online. It can be a bit isolating at times when not many of my IRL friends do the same stuff as me day to day.
Even though most of these creators aren’t designers either there is still a common thread that connects us all.
I really needed a trip like this to get inspired again and get back into the studio to make some more dope shit.
It still blows my mind that a young kid from Southern California growing up on food stamps with a single mother was able to go from that life all the way to a castle in the French countryside.
You can really live your dreams if you put enough dedication into a craft and don’t let the people who say it’s not possible to bring you down.
I have a whole video talking more about my story coming out on YouTube super soon so stay tuned.
In the meantime, I hope y’all are living well and have found your own little communities to help that artist inside of you thrive.
Much love.
