No More Dopamine Spiking
I just finished recording a new video today about the current state of Instagram and some alt platforms for designers. One of the small but important things I touched on was Hiding Likes. This has been one of the most beneficial mental health practices I have implemented into my IG usage. When you hide your likes it makes using the app a lot more neutral and less dopamine spiking. Yea every once and a while I wanna show off the post that got 5000 likes but not doing that feels a lot less bad than when your favorite new design bombs:( I know I've said this before but just wanted to give you a little reminder and don't let Zuckerberg control your happiness for the day.
Chasing Flow
I recently sat down and chatted with Intranetgirl again, it's always a blast chatting with her and that episode will be coming out soon. During the call, we got into a convo about creative flow state. You know that feeling where time moves at a different pace and all the creative chaos starts to organize on the page or screen. This feeling is one of the best highs we creatives get to experience. Intra and I came to the conclusion that this feeling is kind of the hero that defeats imposter syndrome. When you hit that beautiful flow state you have no room in your mind to compare yourself to others or feel like you don't deserve that project you're working on...you just go. I think this is why I stay so busy all the time because the more I'm creating the more chances I have to hit that flow state and the less time I'm sitting around letting those negative thoughts creep in.
Print out your work
I recently picked up this cool little portfolio thing, It holds 8x10 inch prints which is the perfect size for vertical Instagram posts. I wish I was around during the days of physical portfolios because it's so tangible and satisfying. I got this because putting designs out online can be fun but I never want my personal work to live and die on social media. Go pick yourself up one of these, some decent paper, and start printing out your work and cataloging it. If you do this feel free to share it with me on Twitter or IG i would love to see y'alls collection.
First bid
I recently sold my first NFT after forgetting it was posted on foundation for the longest time lol. I wouldn't normally be too excited but the cool part about it is that it was bought by Poorteffy an awesome artist I really like. Still have one collage up there for sale but prob won't mint any new stuff until that sells as well. For now, I'm just chilling and we'll see where it all goes.
Stuff I currently like and stuff I'm looking forward to!
