Designers Pilgrimage to Adobe

Full Circle Moment

Hey friends
This past week I was up in SF with a bunch of other designers for an Adobe event.

Adobe Photoshop Summit

I had the opportunity to go to this Adobe summit in San Francisco. Adobe was nice enough to fly me out and put me and a bunch of other designers up in a super nice hotel.

It was honestly an amazing full-circle moment going from pirating Adobe Photoshop CS6 back when I was 16, all the way to being brought out to the headquarters to give my honest feedback on the future of the program.

I can’t talk much about what was discussed due to NDAs and whatnot, However, I have a video in the works that will def answer some things.

For the most part, sadly they talked a lot about the future of AI stuff pertaining to Photoshop and the new AI image model Adobe Firefly.

At the end of the day, I understand that Adobe is a company that wants to profit and capitalize on the advancements in the artificial intelligence world. I can’t talk a lot about the specifics as I said, but one thing I respect at the very least that Adobe is doing is taking a lot more precautions.

They are putting a respectable effort towards the copyright issues and what type of work they can train their AI model on.

Other AI image generation software, like mid-journey, or Dalle, scrape the entire Internet to inform what the model can generate. This causes the generations to run into a lot of problems of creative’s work being stolen and mishmashed to create a final piece of AI-generated nonsense.

They also chatted to us about the future of Photoshop and some cool tools coming out and I’m excited for all of y’all to see that, but for the most part, the best part of the trip was hanging out with some fellow designers that I’ve always talk to online.

I got to hang out with Doron, Ram, Eli, Piper, and Paulina

We have been chatting in a group chat app towards the event and we’re so excited to finally meet IRL

I was a little bit nervous going into it because besides Ram, I have never met any of these people and just talk to them online.
Once I pulled up to the hotel though and after the first few minutes of meeting, I knew it was gonna be a Good time

I’m sure a few of y’all have seen some of the stupid pictures we’ve been posting online and I have a lot more to come in the video I’m currently working on!

So I don’t wanna spoil what we got into too much and just my words won’t do justice to the voice-over and vlog parts of the video.

Overall though this trip reminded me of how important community is. I have a ton of close friends back home but it feels amazing to hang with liked-minded creatives who understand the same things you’re doing through day to day.

Also, not many other people I could make jokes about “halftones” and “Gaussian blur” too lol.

I also met a ton of other talented Photoshop designers and creatives that I’m excited to dive into their work more online.

Stay tuned for the video coming soon and I encourage all of y’all to find some kind of community in person or online that will help lift you up as a creative.

Closing Thoughts

That is the main awesome thing about the internet, it connects you with like-minded people you would probably never get to meet or interact with.

Something about seeing your work printed out in the real world never gets old (no matter the scale) Threw this on my story already the other day but thought it deserved a permanent spot in the feed.”
