Hey friends
Hope y’all have been living well and staying cool. It’s been hot af this summer where I’m living. I think it was even the hottest day recorded ever on Earth a few weeks ago lol
I have been so busy with client work but still wanted to come on here to share a proud accomplishment and hopefully some motivation for you all.
I recently hit 100k subscribers on YouTube and it was a crazy moment that I knew would eventually happen but still feels so cool.
I still remember 4 years ago sitting in my 100-degree apartment in LA, thinking “fuck it I should try making YouTube videos”
My early vids were pretty derivative of a lot of the stuff I saw on the platform and were so bad
I look back and cringe at my dryness and inability to act entertaining in front of a camera lol
Shoutout to my homie Vince for editing my early videos and helping me even learn how to use Premiere Pro in the first place.
Anyway, the point of this isn’t to just shit on my past self, but rather the opposite.
I’m so proud of myself that I was able to see the vision way into the future and stay consistent with the content.
Don’t get me wrong either it wasn’t all fun, all the time.
It FUCKING SUCKED trying to make new videos each week and having them bomb, get a couple of hundred views, and still have the motivation to keep going.
That’s the little secret though, due to some combination of discipline and insanity I keep up with it week after week.
It was so easy to wanna try something new or give up when I was working 30+ hours a week on a YouTube channel that was making $0
Now that things are doing better, I’m stoked that I never gave up and so thankful for all of you.
The best part too is that my YouTube channel isn’t just some bullshit it’s about the things I love: design, art, and overall the creative process.
I’m so grateful to have all of y’all in the community too.
YouTube, Instagram, this newsletter, whatever it is that you are apart of i’m happy to have ya around.
It’s so dope having a niche interest to obsess over, but it’s even better when I get to share it with others.
Life’s a trip and I just wanted to share this for anyone out there who is afraid to start that thing you’ve always wanted to do.
“The best time to start was yesterday, the second best time to start is now”
Much love
