BEWARE OF JOB
Hey Friends
Hope you all are well. This week was busy but made a lot of progress on stuff. Stayed up pretty late working on things but it was all made possible thanks to caffeine.
Jesse Nyberg Podcast Clips Channel
Above is a clip from the new podcast clips channel. I know a lot of other podcasts do this, so I thought I would give it a try. I understand that a lot of people are interested in the podcast or design but can't be bothered to watch an hour-long video, I get that. My hope is that these clips will be more digestible and help spread awareness to the main channel! Going through my backlog of footage has been super inspiring and makes me feel good to see how far I've come with the podcast. It's taking a while but stoked to continue cracking away at this old footage and making clips for y'all. Please do me a favor and subscribe to the new clips channel HERE or through the video above:)

Rico Nasty🤮
She really lived up to her name with the way she acted on her story. If you haven't seen basically Rico Nasty went on a little IG story rant about how she doesn't have to credit artists when sharing their work. While this may technically be true she was very disrespectful about ti saying "y'all just want your 15 minutes of fame". As an artist herself you would think they would understand the power of being shared or to a wider audience and how potentially life-changing that can be for an up and coming artist. This got me thinking and as a community, we need to be better about crediting. The industry everyday skimps out on credits, especially in the music industry. We are all in this together so a little goes a long way. 2 designers who I think do a great job of crediting others in their work are Harry Vincent & Caroline Dietl.
VIDEO VIDEO VIDEO
Every day I hear a new person complaining about reach online or an article talking about how Instagram "isn't a photo-sharing platform anymore". This is annoying and can be discouraging for artists who mainly produce static work. My solution is to experiment with video and reels a little bit more so you can get some traffic and eyeballs on the work you want to be producing. It sucks that it has to be this way, but in the world of social media, it really is Adapt or Die. Just try to put your own flavor into it, just because you're making TikToks or reels doesn't mean you have to dance in front of the camera. Lately, I have been injecting video into my posters, you can watch the tutorial on that HERE. For some overall tips feel free to check out this VIDEO I made a while back about growing your Instagram Audience. Lastly, I have been putting more time into posting don't Twitter, so catch me over there.

The Doron Studio Streetwear Pandemic
I'm, sure you are familiar with Doron's Youtube channel or his mockups. He is a very talented designer who has shared some very valuable tutorials for young designers. His style is represented by grainy imagery and a maximalist approach to t-shirt design. While these tutorials seem to have been helpful for so many young designers it has also oversaturated the market. Every new streetwear brand I see is producing rip-off type designs of something Doron would do. I think this brings up an interesting dynamic where sometimes there are big cons to over-accessibility. I don't think we should go back to gatekeeping every technique and acting all weird. However, as a community, I think there is a balance that can be found between oversharing and keeping some things for yourself. Some of my best work was created from times when I had to dig deep and come up with my own solution for things rather than looking for tutorials or inspiration online. This is just food for thought, no shade against anyone who has created work in that style.
Stuff I currently like and stuff I'm looking forward to!
