Hey friends
Hope you’re living well and doing your best to dodge this heatwave🥵
The start of a new personal project
I spoke recently about being busy in the content creation side of my career and slacking on self-initiated projects.
When I was working on my Skatin Not Stirred series, black Note, and my personal favorite the Blues Legends series I had a ton of creative momentum
This creative momentum for me acts like the opposite of creative block or burnout
Doing more makes it easier to do more.
Sounds so simple but can feel impossible to get going again.
Luckily I recently did an interview with the homie Struthless and he told me about an exciting new project he’s working on.
It is called the Alphabet Superset and his goal is to create a documentary for each letter of the alphabet. This sounded interesting and I wanted to hear more.
Good news for me Struthless decided to create a whole framework for any creative out there to participate.
The rules were simple, set the scope, medium, and constraints and get cooking
You can check all the details HERE
This was exciting for me because I’ve always been an advocate for having some kind of limitations that take the decision fatigue out of the creative process.
I have been getting back into the hardcore scene a lot more lately and want to design album art, flyers, etc. so this was the perfect opportunity to practice some concepts.
My Version of the alphabet superset is going to be redesigning album art for a hardcore band starting with each letter of the alphabet weekly.
I’m pretty sure this project will be a good pace to help me tap back into that personal passion project side of my brain, while not being too overwhelmed by time constraints.
I started out with this bad boy
“Something’s gotta Give” by Agnostic Front
Seemed only right to start the letter “A” with a true hardcore OG like Agnostic Front
I settled on a nice noisy design and got some cool textures by inverting the design and printing it out and rescanning it back in
Also was really happy with how this fun sunburst pop or color vinyl turned
Check it out!
I’m excited to create more and maybe it will bring some real-world opportunities but at the very least it will be fun!
Stoked to see who else is participating, Much Love y’all!

Thanks for reading!
I plan on keeping this newsletter free, but if you want to support, the best way is to buy me a coffee:)
Thanks for sharing the Alphabet Superset! I've also been struggling with personal designs recently so hopefully I can use that to get back into it!
Totally relate that doing more makes it easier to do more. I feel much more blocked when I have too much time... Dope album art! I'll have to add some of those songs to playlists 👀
